Building a home server from zero

Hi there!

I have casa OS installed in a mini PC, and i have my own domain. My goals with this are…

  • to have a place where i can store files, photos, and be able to access them remotely (as a Google Drive and Google Photos alternative).
  • Also, I want to install several services to which i also need access through the internet (services like n8n and passbolt)

With this setup, i’ve been trying to install several apps following bigbear’s videos, but i’m getting some errors (e.g. installing pi-hole, ad-guard) that i believe might come from having tested a bunch of commands, portainer stacks, etc, following different youtube videos.

So i’m thinking on going through a clean install. Is there a guide on a good way of building my server from zero?
I’m not sure if it’s better to install proxmox, then casa os, then portainer, and then the apps… or skip some of that.

I could really use a guide for dummies

Thanks in advance, Javi
