In my casaOS setup, I am unable to create storage using the attached USB HDD. Can anyone advise what I am not doing correct?
I am on Debian 12 and casaOS 0.4.9. I have tried disabling automount of USB drives in casaOS UI. The result is the same with this turn on or off. I suspect it may be a permission issue. I have created casaos user which I can use from terminal within casaOS.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Update - I figured out why my USB drives are not being recognized in CasaOS’ Storage. Once I created a partition in my USB drive and mount the partition in Debian, it is recognized by CasaOS Storage. However, the button to create storage is still greyed out. I can selected the USB drives’ partitions to add them to my storage from Files within CasaOS, after formatting them partitions within CasaOS.
So, I seem to have success now adding the USB drives as they had appeared in my Storage for the first time. Within Files, is there a way to confirm the amount of storage I now have?
Next step for me is to install Immich from BigBearCasaOS app store!
You can check your USB drive with: df -h
This command will show you the disk space usage for all mounted filesystems, including your newly added USB drives.
Awesome that Immich is your next step! It is indeed a cool system for photo and video management. Make sure you have enough storage space available for your photo and video collection before you start the installation.
