How to update Immich from v2.3.1 to v2.4.1 on CasaOS?

Hey everyone,

I’m running Immich on CasaOS (which is installed on my Proxmox homelab) and the mobile app is notifying me that there’s a server update available. Currently running v2.3.1 and v2.4.1 has been released.

What’s the best/safest way to update Immich through CasaOS?

I’ve checked the App Store in CasaOS but I’m not seeing an obvious update button. Should I:

  • Wait for CasaOS to push the update automatically?

  • Update manually via docker-compose commands?

  • Do something else entirely?

I want to make sure I don’t break anything since I have quite a bit of photos already uploaded.

Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks!

Open the Immich settings and select “immich-machine-learning” and manually type in v2.4.1. Do the same for “immich-server”. Save and let it install.

Try restarting the app and check the logs. You might have to downgrade it back if the app doesn’t open.

Oh ok, it might have been a minor error then. If it’s working then there’s nothing to worry about.

Do you know if for the new version of immich 2.5.0 is the same step?
The new version was lauched this week

Yeah, just increase the version number again. This works for all apps in CasaOS.

Two week old install, will not update from 2.4.1 to 2.5.2. keep getting error: “Error response from daemon: manifest unknown” Even tried putting everything to “latest” not works, always returns to 2.4.1

for me it works from 2.4.1 to 2.5.2, just take a long time
i also get some error but in the end it works

What changes are you doing?
you only need on immich-server and machine-learning

yes, immich-server and machine-learning is all I need. I did the basic install and everything has been running beautifully… but just won’t update. I even tried restarting CasaOS and all updates are done.

I disabled Pi-hole just in case, but no joy.

Kind of stumpped.

Found the issue!! when entering the version number you must prefix it with “v”, example:

v2.5.2 and not 2.5.2

Installed perfectly!

Ah yeah, I normally only change the number after the 2.

I was saying that the error was because some error on writing the version, latest stop working
