Immich no more Update?

Hello dear community, I have a question: why does the IMMICH update take so long? Versions have already been skipped; is the IMMICH service not being updated?

Hi @m_F.

I am not sure, how @dragonfire1119 is interested, if this only hobby or he is employee, maybe he’ll tell us himself.

For me, it is community driven. Everyone can explore new versions of any app (or create new using Custom app installation). When new version of immich is compatible with current casaOS/ZimaOS, he/she can make pull request on GitHub. So if there is long no new version, nobody has free time for community to test and release.

Check last from 5792 GitHub PRs, there are almost only dragonfire work… And BigBearClub (Ko-Fi) has only 32 members, spent 139 coffees.

How I see it, there must be balance between personal life, hobby, job. Sometimes goes buf gixes, sometime whole new app, sometime old app is upgraded (test and upgraded). This huge works in almost only one man… It would be really nice to see more active persons here. If You are interested in test and PR of this work, You can also read this feedback from user @daddy .

Feel free to ask and make PRs.

@m_F Thanks for the question and for using Immich through BigBearCasaOS.

There is a bot watching for new Immich releases and preparing updates for the BigBearCasaOS app store, but when there are bigger changes or something that might affect existing installs, it stops and waits for a manual review and approval from me. This is to avoid pushing an update that could break people’s setups without proper testing against CasaOS/ZimaOS.

Also want to echo what @j900 said and say a big thank you for all the help, testing, explanations, and links you share around the community. Support like that really helps keep this mostly one‑person project moving forward.

For about two years I was helping 30–50 people a day for free, which was great but also very time‑consuming, so now I have to be much more careful about how time is spent to keep everything sustainable. Right now it is just me building and managing around 15 apps for https://bigbeartechworld.com, along with a lot of servers and multiple open‑source projects, so time and resources are always tight. Because this is a hobby project with a lot of hours behind it, donations really help keep everything online and justify the time spent maintaining and improving things like Immich. I’ve just added PayPal as an option on Ko‑fi, so if you find BigBearCasaOS useful and want to support the work, you can do so here: https://ko-fi.com/bigbeartechworld.
