Dear BigBearCommunity,
I’ve noticed several users experiencing issues after manually changing Docker tags in BigBearCasaOS applications. I wanted to share some important guidance to help everyone maintain stable systems:
Why You Shouldn’t Change Tags Manually
Recent troubleshooting has shown that changing Docker tags (especially database tags) can lead to:
- Data loss
- Broken containers
- Compatibility issues
- Difficult recovery situations
In one case, a user lost their entire NextCloud instance because of tag changes that created version incompatibilities.
The BigBearCasaOS Update Process
Here’s how updates work in the BigBearCasaOS store:
- Updates go through a waiting period to identify potential issues
- New versions typically appear within 3 days of official releases
- Some updates may take longer if issues are discovered
- This delay protects you from problematic releases that could affect your system
If You Need Updates
- Please wait for the official BigBearCasaOS store updates
- Restart your CasaOS instance if updates aren’t appearing (this is a known issue)
- Remember that databases are particularly sensitive to version changes
I create and maintain BigBearCasaOS to help the community. The testing and maintenance require significant time and effort, supported only by your generous donations.
