This action violates YouTube’s policy and undermines the revenue channels it relies on. If everyone did this, YouTube’s platform could be severely impacted, potentially leading to its downfall.
I disagree about leading to YouTube’s downfall; they’re doing a good job of cratering themselves. Also, there’s more to YouTube archiving than just downloading media to watch; media preservation is a thing, and I am wholeheartedly for keeping media that may be of importance archived. It is your decision but there’s more to something like this than YouTube’s downfall.
I totally understand the importance of media preservation and archiving, especially for content that holds cultural or historical significance. However, when it comes to skipping ads, there’s a balance that needs to be maintained. Many creators, including myself, put a significant amount of time and effort into making videos, and ad revenue is one of the primary ways we’re able to continue producing content. If everyone bypassed ads, creators would lose a vital source of income, which could eventually lead to fewer videos being made and, potentially, the decline of YouTube itself. I love helping people and creating content, but I can’t continue doing it for free if everybody or a big percentage skips ads.
